Basma Elkhereiji is a Saudi chef, restaurateur, and Founder & CEO of Arabian Culinary Logistics, building F&B concepts that bring together food, culture, community, and entrepreneurship.

For Basma Elkhereiji, hospitality is about much more than what appears on a plate. It is about creating places where people connect, experiences that stay with them, and concepts that reflect the culture around them.

Her journey into the food and hospitality industry was not a conventional one. With an early background in international business and marketing, Basma first developed her professional experience outside the kitchen. Her interest in food eventually led her toward entrepreneurship, opening her first café in 2013 with a focus on healthy and wholesome food.

That first venture became the beginning of a much larger journey. Basma later launched The Social Kitchen in Jeddah, developing a concept built around the idea of food as a social experience. The restaurant became an important part of her growing presence in the city's food scene and marked the beginning of a wider portfolio of hospitality ventures.

Over the years, her work expanded across different areas of the F&B industry. Concepts associated with her journey include The Social Kitchen, The Social Bakery, Alieía, Khalila, The Good Butcher, and Anasa. Each reflects her interest in creating distinct dining experiences rather than simply replicating existing restaurant models.

Today, Basma's work extends beyond individual restaurants. As Founder and CEO of Arabian Culinary Logistics (ACL), she works across the wider hospitality ecosystem, supporting restaurant development, F&B concepts, operations, customer experience, people and culture, and hospitality events.

Her role means being involved in the entire journey of a hospitality concept, from the initial business model and menu development to kitchen operations, design, team building, opening, and ongoing management.

This broader perspective has positioned Basma not simply as a chef or restaurateur, but as a hospitality entrepreneur and brand builder who understands the many layers required to turn an idea into a successful experience.

One of the most distinctive aspects of her work is her connection to Saudi identity. As the Kingdom's hospitality and dining industry continues to grow, Basma has advocated for concepts that do not simply imitate international models. She believes Saudi hospitality can develop its own voice, shaped by local culture, community, creativity, and a modern understanding of dining.

That perspective is particularly relevant as Saudi Arabia undergoes a significant transformation in its tourism, hospitality, and entertainment industries. New restaurants, cafés, hotels, and culinary concepts are creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to introduce new ideas while drawing inspiration from the Kingdom's heritage and changing lifestyle.

For Basma, food provides a natural way to create that connection. A restaurant can be a business, but it can also become a gathering place, a cultural experience, and a reflection of the community it serves.

Her career also demonstrates the possibilities that emerge when different disciplines come together. Her background in marketing has informed her approach to branding and business, while her experience in hospitality has given her a practical understanding of what it takes to create and operate successful concepts.

As Saudi Arabia's F&B sector continues to evolve, Basma remains focused on building experiences that feel meaningful, distinctive, and connected to the Kingdom.

HerStory celebrates Basma Elkhereiji for building Saudi hospitality through food, entrepreneurship, and community, and for contributing to an F&B landscape that is increasingly finding its own voice.
